It is safe to say that depression and anxiety are the most common types of mental disorders we witness today. I am reminded of a conversation I was having with my friends. One of my friends happens to be a teacher and I remember her recounting how panic attacks are prevalent among kids these days.   It's all around us! The pressure to conform. The pressure to live and act a certain way that is socially acceptable or one that is not different from the norm. One wonders, who comes up with these set of standards and gets to approve of what is socially acceptable and unacceptable? I tell you, it takes more gut to stand out in our society than to conform. Actually, you dare not be different! Lest you are branded weird, old-fashioned or  mshamba , misfit, an oddball and many other adjectives that outline how outlandish you are. But what if I told you that the goal was not for you to be the same as everyone else? That the goal was for you to be an original. What if we lived out our most authentic unique selves? In a world that seems to celebrate conformity, God desires for you to resist conformity. He wants you to be yourself!
